Oscar Wilde once said “If there is anything in the world more annoying than having people talk about you, it is certainly having no one talk about you.”

David Hampton’s blog has taken us all by surprise, but none of us should really pay attention to it. We knew something like this might happen. Taking part of a really show has its risks: you get exposed, and some people might not like you. And as Oscar Wilde very wisely said, we’d probably be more upset if no-one talked about us.

I had a lot of this when my father died. Some people wrote awful things about him and for a time that really affected me and led me to make a lot of wrong decisions.

It’s what we think of ourselves and each other what really matters.
